Pizza is our ultimate feel-good food in this house. My children demand it once a week. Over the years, I have perfected homemade dough and sauce. Use your own toppings, or just eat as is. Pizza Marinara is actually just dough and tomato sauce sprinkled with garlic oil. No need for cheese if you want to keep it really simple.
Method
- Mix water, yeast and sugar well.
- Next, add flour, oil and salt and combine everything very well.
- Knead the dough until it comes together in a ball.
- Stand aside for 2-4 hours in an oiled bowl to allow to rise.
- This requires a relatively warm spot. Preheat your oven to 235C pizza setting.
- When you are ready to cook your pizza, take the dough, knead it a little and cut into 4 equal parts.
- Roll out thinly on a floured surface and place on a pizza tray or on a tray lined with parchment paper.
- Next, combine the tomatoes, oil, salt, oregano and fresh basil leaves in a blender and blend briefly just to mix enough to bring all ingredients together.
- Thinly cover all pizzas with equal amounts of the sauce. Drizzle with cheese.
- Now you can add your toppings – less is more. Don’t add too much of anything or your pizza might get soggy.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes.
- Enjoy immediately!
