This time of year, I fancy a satisfying and sweet treat between meals. I often choose hot chocolate (I always ask for only ½ the usual quantity of chocolate powder as otherwise it’s just too sweet for me).
This drink is a super healthy alternative to hot chocolate when the cravings hit.
Chia seeds are high in beneficial essential omega 3 fatty acids, banana is rich in magnesium and potassium and complex carbohydrates, coconut water is intensely rehydrating, nut butter is a great source of high-quality protein and plant fats, and cocoa powder is rich in magnesium too.
Method
- Put the coconut water/milk and chia seeds together with cocoa powder into a blender and blend well.
- Allow to sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the chia seeds to absorb liquid.
- Add the banana and nut butter and blend well again.
- Add more coconut water/milk if the consistency is too thick. Enjoy!
