A boot camp is a military inspired class where most of your exercises will use your own bodyweight for resistance to deliver a broad range of fitness benefits. Expect prisoner squats, push ups and a programme that keeps you moving all the time. They vary in levels of toughness, so if you’re not keen on being yelled at Army Drill Sergeant style, you don’t have to go down that route.
Some boot camps are offered as a set programme of 6, 8 or 10 weeks. These offer a convenient chunk of time to commit to and measure your progress in, but you risk falling back into old unhealthy habits once the programme finishes. Or they think it will be filled with body beautiful types who can do all the exercises flawlessly.
Nothing could be further from the truth. The groups that join our boot camp classes at Gym Plus are some of the most varied we have and the exercises can be scaled to suit pretty much anyone. And you can guarantee that the class makes such diverse demands on your body that noone is perfect at all the exercises.
